Good Morning Sunshine! Beautiful Inspiration

The beautiful photography of @anatseem

IMG_9398

It seems that now-a-days we find our selves, more often than not, in serious need of inspiration, a lift, a push, something…. Perhaps it’s because we have access to the news 24/7 in so many ways that it’s impossible to escape all the emphasis in the negative. There must be countless acts of heroism and kindness happening all over the world every second but those are not reported. We need them, we need to know of them. How are we supposed to hold on if we only focus on how horrible we are and how low we have allowed our selves to descend?

My heart breaks with so much sadness for all the cruelty and craziness we are exhibiting as a human race. Animals have proven by far to be infinitely better than we are.   In the midst of all this madness I find myself  uplifted and renewed when by chance I get smashed in the face with the beauty of art. Yes, as always and from the beginning of creation, we have the privilege through art to have a glimpse into another soul, the soul of an artist that through his craft show us or remind us of how beautiful life is or can be.

Today I want to share the work of a gifted photographer whose name I don’t even know. I stumbled into her work in Instagram where she goes by @anatseem   I googled her, of course, but couldn’t find any additional information. While looking at my IG a new post of hers showed up and left me speechless. She takes mostly photos of who I imagine is her daughter, silhouettes of her playing in the light. There is a purity and innocence about them and so much love and artistry. I can’t judge photography or other art forms because I’m totally unqualified for the task. What I can do is share the things I love and move me.  I needed this today. I was in serious need of inspiration, my heart needed a hug and she gave it to me through her art. Enjoy and let me know what you thought of her work please and definetly visit her in Instagram.  Have an awesome weekend and make it count!  Thank you so much for visiting, I can’t believe we are aproching 18,000 views already!

Grey is Beautiful … or is it?

I know why this is considered beautiful all over the world…. I feel the same way, hands down!   -Gorgeous, attractive, interesting, magnetic, enigmatic, … and so many positive adjectives more.

bbbb

Aiden Shaw
And who could argue about this man’s beauty and sex appeal?!   Nobody, I know.  Not me.  I really feel like I am dreaming looking at him…. ok, not really, but you get the point.  (Model: Aiden Shaw)
wow
This man probably never had to considered a nose job to feel attractive, captivating, gorgeous and confident. He never had to fight to attain an impossible stereotype of what beauty is or should be.  His wrinkles only added to his natural rugged beauty, his nose gave him character, made him more interesting.  All his irregularities made him even better, manly, unattainable, unique.  Absolutely. I agree.   (In the picture: Andrew Lucchesi.)
mmm
We loved them even more when they started wearing pink!   -How daring, masculine, confident, awesome they looked… – It takes a real man to wear pink! That is what we all said…
Lauren Hutton:
But….. What happens when it comes to WOMEN?   Why is there such a difference between men and women regarding age and beauty?    To me is all a matter of habit and perception.  A very bad habit due to the crap we have been fed forever.  We are so used to have men portrayed as handsome and interesting regardless of their age, grey hair or wrinkles. What I call, natural wear and tear, and that is fine, the way it should be. We are what we are inside, it reflects on the outside.  A leather sofa or jacket for instance, they become more beautiful and valuable with time, when they start looking aged and weathered. It gives them character like it happens with men.
Yasmina Rossi
Yasmina Rossi

Women, on the other hand, we have always been portrayed as beautiful only when we are really, REALLY young and with almost ridiculous standards of beauty, so hard to attain and maintain. We  have a very short expiration date!   We are expected to look like plastic. The less pores and lines we have, the better… Is this a joke?  Really, have we gone insane? I see more and more women going for extreme treatments to make any lines or blemishes disappear. Their faces look like plastic and unreal. Expressionless. All this while, mostly men collect their money for the services they perform on them…

Lauren Hutton at 70 years old. She loves her lines and expressions and so do I.

Even worse, the sickness of some designers and most of the media turned teenagers and pre-teens, with an androgenic look, -which is perfectly normal and natural for their age and the changes they are going through-  into an ideal of beauty. They wanted to turn them into sex symbols and objects of desire. They wanted to perpetuate the look forever, they tried to force us to feel guilty for not looking like a malnourished teenager. Women started taking pills, even their kids pills, like adderall – another crazy subject- to stop being hungry.  How sick and disgusting is that?!  And our children bought into that. MEN bought into that.  WOMEN bought into that.  Who is and was so afraid of women, that wanted to perform a media lobotomy on us?!     – In the picture: Model Lauren Hutton, Gorgeous, vibrant, interesting, fascinating, intelligent, challenging.

The amazing

It is not that easy to attract the interest and keep the attention of these accomplished, attractive and independent women, a total challenge. It is very hard to control somebody who knows her value and own strengths.  (In the picture: Linda Fargo)

dd
Who could argue her beauty, even more so with grey hair?   There is nothing more attractive than self confidence and self worth, knowing who you are and of course your talent.   (In the picture: Writer Annika Von Holdt.)
ooo
I think he is extremely attractive and 30 years ago I would had felt the same way.
Elle McPeherson
Elle MacPherson, 51 years old. I know she is a supermodel and stuff but this is what 51 is looking like, more and more, now that we women stopped believing the crap we were fed before!
vv
Lauren Ezersky. What a gorgeous woman! When you have the power inside, you can wear and do whatever you want, the way you want it. Grey is not only beautiful but awesome, so gorgeous!
Aiden Shaw
Aiden Shaw, I love his style, those shoes are to die for! Love the grey everywhere, people love grey … only not on women’s heads.
Why? ! Many people start going grey even early in their 30's. How can that be perceived as old age when we are suppose to live more than 80 years?!!!! Does it make any sense?
Why? ! Many people start turning grey even early in their 30’s. How can that be perceived as old age when we are suppose to live more than 80 years?!!!! Does it make any sense? It would be like believing High School was the best and most important part of your life!
Gorgeous!
Gorgeous! Come on people!  Could she had looked any better if she had dyed her hair?!  I have nothing against colouring your hair, my two sisters colour their hair, my mother colours her hair, most of my friends colour their hair. They look great.  What I am against is the perception of grey being ugly in women, the perception of grey meaning you are old, done and approaching your grave.   And only for women! What the bloody hell.
Damn he looks amazing! One I met my husband, one of the things that attracted me most was his hair, he had dark hair with grey, almost white above the ears. So elegant and distinguish... do you think he would have felt the same about me if I had the same thing going one? Hahaha! I know the answer to that....
Dang he looks amazing!   -When I met my husband, one of the things I found myself more attracted to,  was his hair, very dark and with some brushes of white and grey above the ears.  So elegant and distinguished … That was my perception! …do you think he would have felt the same way about me if I had the same thing going on!? Hahaha!   We all know too well the answer to that….

Sarah Harris

She is really cool.

Elle MAcPherson, the new 50s
Elle MacPherson, the new 50s.  She is fantastic. Perfect is an expression I use probably too often.  But she is. Healthy, strong and confident. I don’t care if she colors her hair or not. That is not the point. The point is that she can do whatever she wants and still look young and sexy, she has the option.  Nothing to do with the models Karl Lagerfeld, a disturbed excuse of a man, uses in his work.   There is something so creepy about him. He gives me the chills, he says he hates ugly people and I am like… Hello! Look in the freaking mirror without your stupid glasses!  I don’t know how he can be Channel’s and Fendi’s head designer…
Criminal in my opinion.
This is criminal in my opinion. Wait, this is plain criminal. Not just in my opinion.  I don’t think for a second Coco Chanel would had agreed with his insanity and sickness. He must hate women. That’s why he wants them to look like that.
How could he ever compete with this ?

And now, back to Grey!

Sarah Harris started going grey in her early teens and decided to keep her natural colour. It takes personality and guts to dare to go against the current, specially in the world of fashion where she spends her life as the fashion director for Vogue Magazine UK. She is a fashion icon now.

The one and only Meryl Streep ! She can make any hair color work, because it is she who is the star, everything else follows.
George
George, famous for being handsome. Pretty much.  I still love him. Again it comes to self confidence, he carries himself with such ease and charm that most of us melt. He looks even more handsome since he turned grey.
vv
Many women start turning grey at 30, that means they “have” to colour their hair for the next 50 or 60 years.?! … If you want to do so, that is great, but not because we are so used to the images of grey haired women we’ve been fed forever.  Those images of old ladies ready to kick the bucket, retired, bored, sad, waiting for nothing and hopeless. That is a lie. It is not the way it is. This can be and often is, the best time of our lives, when we know who we are, we know what we want and we have the time and the means to do it, to start a new path in life.  Now I am going through a phase.  I can’t wait for my hair to be all grey, white or whatever it is going to be. It doesn’t mean I won’t color it at some point in the future if I feel like it, it means it is what I want NOW.  I find it so attractive and interesting, I feel excited about it  like if I was a teenager again.
mm
Oh my gosh …. you see, this is my point exactly. They don’t feel old at all. They didn’t stop taking care of themselves and dressing like they were in the prime of their lives because they got grey. I believe they have never felt this confident and attractive in their lives.  And THAT is what I want us WOMEN to understand and to have. Regardless of the hair colour we choose to keep or to get. It goes well beyond that.
Sting!!!
Sting!!! He’s definitely gotten better with age. If that is possible. It is possible, we see the proof over and over again. I’m surprised he allowed the photographer to photoshop him. Where are his awesome expression lines?

This long labour day weekend, I hope you have fun, enjoy life and accept yourself the way you are. I am sure you are more than beautiful for many people around you, now be beautiful for yourself!  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Behold your own.

And this would be me, trying to find my own! It's in the process and so far I am the only one who loves it in the family! We will see. xx

Il me plaît à me promener
Par les rues qui se faufilent
À travers toute la ville.
J’aime, j’aime Paris au mois de mai
___

J’aime Paris au mois de mai.
Lorsque le jour se lève
Les rues sortent du rêve.
Après un sommeil très léger
Coquettes se refont une beauté

J’aime Paris au mois de mai
Quand soudain tout s’anime
Par un monde anonyme
Heureux de voir le soleil briller

J’aime quand le vent m’apporte
Des bruits de toutes sortes
Et les potins que l’on colporte
De porte en porte

Il me plaît à me promener
Dans les rues qui fourmillent
En souriant aux filles.
J’aime, j’aime Paris au mois de mai
___

J’aime Paris au mois de mai
Avec ses bouquinistes
Et ses aquarellistes
Que le printemps a ramenés
Comme chaque année le long des quais

J’aime Paris au mois de mai
La Seine qui l’arrose
Et mille petites choses
Que je ne pourrais expliquer

J’aime quand la nuit sévère
Étend la paix sur terre
Et que la ville soudain s’éclaire
De millions de lumières

Il me plaît à me promener
En contemplant les vitrines
La nuit qui me fascine.
Que j’aime Paris, oui.
J’aime Paris au mois de mai

I love Paris in the month of May
When the buds come alive again
[And] that a new youth
Takes hold of the old city
Which sets about glowing

I love Paris in the month of May
When winter abandons it
[And] that the sun caresses
Its barely awake old roofs

I love to smell in the squares
I love in the streets I pass through
I love this scent of lily of the valley that chases
The wind that is passing

It pleases me to go for a walk
Through the streets which weave
Across the whole city.
I love, I love Paris in the month of May
___

I love Paris in the month of May.
As soon as the day rises
The streets come out of their dreams.
After a very light sleep
Coquettes redo their make-up

I love Paris in the month of May
When suddenly everything comes alive
With an anonymous world
Happy to see the sun shining

I love when the wind brings me
Noises of all kinds
And the rumours that they spread
From door to door

It pleases me to go for a walk
In the streets that are teeming
While smiling at the girls.
I love, I love Paris in the month of May

I love Paris in May
with its book stalls
and its watercolourists
(I love) that spring has returned
as it does every year, along the quaysides
I love Paris in May
the Seine that washes upon it
and loads of little things
I cannot possibly explain

I love it when the stark night
spreads peace over the land
and the city suddenly lights up
with millions of lights
I like to stroll around
taking in the shop windows
in the night that fascinates me
I love, I love Paris in May

It’s been a long, long time coming! ~ From St. Augustine, Florida

Beautiful
The Bridge of Lions, famous landmark in St. Augustin, Florida.

Hello everybody! where did time go?!   I’ve been really busy lately, traveling and working in a design project, among other things, in St. Augustine, and without realizing I almost forgot I have a blog … Not that I had been writing much since I started, I’ve been rather inconsistent about it, in spite of that I enjoy it immensely… What happens is that I have the impression, or at least I kid my self with the idea that nobody is going to read this, that it is just a kind of personal, kind of private sort of thing… and then I get a bit nervous when I see that I’d had visitors from all over the world…. how did that happened?! How is that even possible?!  I know other bloggers are so used to it, not me, I still find comfort in anonymity and the lack of pressure that comes with not having a lot of people following you… in the other hand, deep down, you have the desire of being validated by people finding some value in your words… It’s complicated…

One of the

I took the time and looked, day by day, where all those visitors came from, WordPress shows all sorts of data like that, (I imagine also every other host in the planet) how many visits you had per day and where in the world your visitors came from… This is so COOL and I can’t believe it!  People from France, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, Netherlands, Greece, Russia, Germany, United Kingdom , Kuwait, Finland, Hungary, Chile, Austria, Kenya, Egypt, Korea,(I assume South Korea, right?!  I don’t think Kim Jong-Un was reading my blog, since he is pretty much the only one with internet access in North Korea …  I don’t take that matter lightly, just not the place or time to discuss it……. – And I went back and looked again, it clearly says: South Korea!)  Perú, Slovenia, Argentina, India, Bosnia & Herzegovina,  Australia, Poland, Norway, Spain, Portugal, Honduras, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong SAR China, Serbia, Jersey, Andorra, Iceland, Algeria, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Bermuda, Colombia, European Union, Brazil, Italy, New Zealand, Slovakia, Bangladesh, Romania, Mexico, Turkey, South Africa, Latvia, Czech Republic, Japan, Montenegro, Vietnam, Croatia and Reunion!   Really? Jersey?! Is that even a country?… Never mind! I just Googled it and of course it is … I feel ashamed… (not really, not that much, how can I keep up with the new configurations of old nations and all the changes the world’s had and continue having?! … I should, but I don’t..)

– AND THERE THEY ARE!  THE HAPPY CITIZENS OF JERSEY! SORRY GUYS…

I still can’t believe that somebody found me and took the time to read what I wrote… shocking…outstanding…mind blowing…scary… humbling…

Impatience has to be one of my biggest flaws. I can’t just write  this and let it sit and then come back later or the next day and finish it.  The way I see it, or I should say, the way I feel it, is that I’m just sharing this with a group of my friends, in a very informal and relaxed way….that’s why I talk about impatience, if somebody else apart from them is going to read any of these posts, I would/should take the time to correct them and try to make them better… But then again it wouldn’t feel right, it is not who I am, I’m not here pretending to be a writer, I’m just trying to share a little bit of my journey “Here on Earth” and the things I love….  My love of photography shows in my life in so many ways… pictures inundate every corner of it, my head and my phone, and I inundate the people in my life with them!   My poor kids complain often, from wherever in the world they are at the time, about me sending too many photos, but I really believe that in time, they will be happy I did, and very glad to have them. There is a reason why when there is a fire, one of the first things people grab is just that, their pictures.  Family is the great motivator in  life, either the family you were  born in, or the family you created yourself with friends and your own family.

I find photography fascinating, I see it as life itself frozen forever in time in a frame …. Isn’t that something?! perhaps that is why it is so popular to share your life in pictures in so many ways through the internet. People have a need to be seen or to be heard and they measure success with the number of “friends” or followers they have…. when success is found in the ability of living your life doing something you have a passion for, surrounded by the people you love, in peace with yourself and really liking the man or woman staring you back in the mirror!

Not to break a good habit, I’m sharing some pictures of the beautiful city of St. Augustine, where I spent my last month and a half, I hope you enjoy it and perhaps get motivated to visit this wonderful place. xx

Up to here, all photos are mine.

At this point, after a long day of flying and emotional reunions, my phone had died, so it left me with no choice but getting some pictures from the internet to show you how pretty the city looked illuminated with thousands of lights for the Christmas season. I was told it had been very hard to walk, let alone drive, in the city up to a week before. I arrived on January 20th, so things had calmed down already and I was able to enjoy the sites without the commotion!
